Story Plot Summary
The series is mainly focus on two brothers , Ting Yau Kin and Ting Yau Hong life, They lost their mother and father since child. Ah kin remembers the struggle of his parents during childhood, and how his mother wrongfully accused on murder.On the other hand, Ah Hong didnt remember anything of the past because he was still a baby at that time. This leads to difference in their characters which will change their life and fate later
Both of them taken care by Aunt Wan, together with other two non related siblings, Chan siu ling and zhi mun. The story progress when all of them have become adults and choose their path.
Ah KIn become a very honest, humble, and very upright person, Ah Hong become a totally 180 degeree personality compare to Ah kin, and he is the main antagonist of the series.
Ah Hong want to be a rich, succesful man through any means including killing whoever on his ways. He will do anything to climb to the top. Ah Kin, otherwise, happy with what he have, he never want to take any dirty money and hold his principle upright.
Ah hong initially study lawyer, but failed. He got learn business because his friend is son of Fong shi bong, a lawyer turned into a rich businssman. He climb to the top step by step.
He broke up with Maggie Siu , and kill her to pursue daughter of Fong shi bong (Kiki sheung). Finally, he managed to become son in law of Fong shi bong.
Ah Kin sacrifice so many times for Ah Hong, yes...too many times that it actually causing Ah Hong to become more and more ruthless and cunning person. He did that so many times because he want to fulfil his mother last words, which is to take care of his little brother , Hong.
Ah kin have a very eventful but sad life. Initially doing rough job to supoort his family. Then, he got chance and passed training to become a jail warden. Howver, at that time, Ah hong accidentally hit and run the son of Ngai (Sandy's brother). He goes to jail for Ah hong because he dont want to ruin ah hong's future.
After went out of jail, he and his friends from jail slowly opening a rsstaurant. After many mishap, he become rich and marry Sandy.
On the other hand,
ah hong never repent on his mistakes until the end of the story. He killed his foster mother in Malaysia when his mother got to know that ah hong killed Maggie Siu. He married Kiki sheung, but later was dismissed by Fong shi bong when they know the true intent and true nature if Ah hong. Ah hong managed to escaped death punishment in Malaysia and goes to jail only in Hong kong.
After many years going out from jail. Ah hong still not repent , while Ah kin is a rich man now. Ah hong kill child of Ah Kin. Ah kin nver get the happiness that he wanted until the last... So sad...
Characters
Ah Kin (felix wong)- sacrifice everthing for his brother. He didnt finish his school to support his brother.
Later, he goes to jail instead of his brother to protect the future of his brother
He forgive his brother multiple times eventhough Ah Hong had done so many wrongful things,
At last, he doing the right things by sending his brother to be prosecuted death in Malaysa. However, it is too late.
Sandy has reminded him many times, but ah Kin didnt listen. Later, their child was killed by Ah hong,
At that time, Sandy left him and said to him that it is too late, sandy said Ah kin should look back into every wrong decision he had done, started from going to jail for Ah hong.
i guess thats one of the reason why this series title is ' Looking Back in Anger'.
Ah hong (deric wan) - very willful and aspire to be rich man. along the journey, he had done so many wrong things including killing his foster mother, Aunt wan, Killing his girflriend Chiu Kar mun, killing Ah hong's child. he never repent to his mistakes until the end. At last, he was sent to Malysia by Ah kin to be prosecuted death at the end of the story
Sandy ( carina lau) -daughter of rich Ngai family. Very easygoing especially to Ah kin. She shared the same birthday with Ah kin, thats how she met ah kin. She secretly admires Ah kin from the start she met him. She is Ah kin's source of strength. Throughout the story, she repeatedly remind Ah kin not to be a fool who protect the wrongdoing of ah hong. She marry Ah kin and have a child.
At the end of the story, she left Ah kin.
Connie (Kathy chow).- initially in love with ah hong, however she was left by ah hong. Then, she pairs up with Ah kin , and she wait Ah kin goes out from jail 2 yrs.
Relationship with Ah kin not going smoothly, then she broke up with Ahkin. Towards the end, she goes to Malaysia for her career but remain in love with Ah kin. She killed herself at the end because Ahkin choose Sandy at the end.
Love story
Ah hong - intitally pair with Connie ( KathyChow), but later pursue Chiu Kar Mun ( Maggie Siu), then later pursue and marry Maggie Siu, Fong Shi Bong daugther. He done all this to get the wealth and inheritance of Fong shi bong empire.
Ah kin- secretly in love with Connie when ah hong in relationship with Connie. After ah hong left Connie, he pair up with Connie. He broken up with Connie because certain misunderstanding. Then, he realize that Sandy (Carina Lau) actually admires him for along time, so he pairs with Sandy and marry her, and had a child.
Ending
A very sad ending. Ah hong killed Ah kin and Sandy only child., in the hope to get their wealthy inheritance. This is because Ah kin have become a very succesfull beusinessmen by his own effortt.
Ah kin initally didnt know, but later realize that ah hong is the one who killed his child. Sandy get mad knowing this truth.
Ah kin ask for forgiveness from sandy, because he realize that he is the reason why Ah Hong still alive and become like that, Sandy said that it is too late to change anything, he told Ah kin to look back every wrong decision that he did . Sandy left Ah kin and told him that she will never come back.
Ah kin said that he will wait how many years Sandy left him. Sandy ddnt believe, citing that she will only comeback 10 years later. Ah kin shocked, but still said that he will wait even 10 years
2 years later, Sandy called him that she want to go back to him. But, at that time, suddenly earthquake happened at Kenya (where Sandy stay). and Ah kin also met accident.
Later, there is no news of Sandy. Ah kin still believe that Sandy still alive. aftaer 10 years, Ah kin goes to the church on the birhtday to wait for Sandy. he waited and waited overnight but no one comes. He cried there all night and sleep there, later a woman come and pass him a note while hes sleeping. The note stated that Sandy have died already. no need to wait for her.
the story ends when Ah kin rushing towards the church door thinking that the woman who sent the note is Sandy actually...
Verdict
-I really like all the characters in the series. The main story and subplot are interesting. Even the subplot of Ngai family, Fong shi bong family, is very interesting to watch
-i feel that romantic scenes between Ah kin and Sandy not enough, the memorable scene is when ah hong cancel his flight to stay in hong hong and find Sandy. After that, their scenes almost same when they are still as friends
- Ah hong remain the most cunning and vicious characters in the story. I thought there will be more story of revenge of Ah kin towards Fong shi bonf (lawyer who cause Ah kin mother undeserved death sentence.) But, surprisingly the plot never go in the direction of revenge. Except at the end, when Ah kin said to Fong shi bong, that it is karma that his family died at the hands of Ah hong.
- the story give a very sad and memorable ending.
