The new main cast members includes Amy Kwok, Joseph Lee and Sammi Cheng.
Chung Yee married to Gigi followed the ending from first series. Meanwhile, Dai Yong and Jesse in a good relationship at the beginning of the series. Later, there are many unexpected harm happened to their relationship which leads to unhappiness and sour relationship between Jesse and Dai Yong.
Chung Yee and Dai Yong continues their partnership as detective in cases involving mostly murders. There is a new detective in the police station, Carman (Amy Kwok). Carman always followed Dai Yong and Chung Yee and learned from them. Carmen later falls in love with Dai Yong but she refused to snatch Dai Yong from Jesse.
There are 12 major cases in this series. However, as the story progress around at 25+ episodes, it unfolds a shocking truth about Carman . She is a bit mentally unstable, due to some incidents that have happened to her before when she was in U.K. She acted as a pitiful woman to gain sympathy and love from Daiyong. Surprisingly, she managed to get Daiyong broken up with Jesse, Actually , Daiyong and Jesse still in love. In one incident, Carmen saw Jesse and Daiyong hugs each other. These incident triggered her mental illness once more because she had trauma about these love situation before during study in the UK, when her boyfriend actually secretly loves another woman and leave her for another woman. She kills both the woman and her boyfriend in a fire accident.
These incident leads to climax, when Carmen want to kill both Daiyong and Jesse in a holiday villa. Unexpectedly, fire started in the villa. Carmen suddenly conscious and remember the truth about what happened actually in the UK. Actually , she is not the one who kills her boyfirend and the woman , but it is her brother who kills them. Carmen then saved both Jesse and Daiyong from the fire accident. Later, her mental illness recovered and she leaves to UK.
Daiyong married to Jesse. On the wedding day, Jesse suddenly fainted and there is a conspiracy related to Jesse unconscious in hospital and the murderer of the last case.
Characters
Dai Yong (Micheal Tao) - great as usual. A very passionate detective and a passionate lover. The problem is he is too nice to every people which cause misunderstading. He intitally rejected Carmen, but after some incidents with Jesse, he slowly want to accept Carmen but finally it didnt work out.
Cheung Yee (Joey Leung) - he become more matured compare to the first installment. His detective skills also become sharper. He is a married man in this second installment, but later become a widower due to Gigi died in one cases. He loses his hope to live.
Jesse (Kenix Kwok) - in this second series, she become a bit more serious compare to the happy go lucky personality in first series. She is very serious with relationship between her and Daiyong. She got rivals in love by Carman. She really give all her love to Daiyong but Daiyong didnt appreciate her love and trust Carman more compare to her.
Carman(Amy Kwok) - a very nice woman. She secretly loves Daiyong but refuse to acknowledge because she dont want to hurt Jesse. Later, it is revealed that she have a mental illness because of past incident in UK.
Gigi (Louisa So) - not really much important story about her in this series compare to the first series. In one cases in episodes 30+, she was knocked down by a car by the murder of the cases. Her death cause Cheung Yee loses his hope to live.
Love story
Jesse and Daiyong have so many obstacles in their relationship. The appearance of Carman is one of main reason of their broken relationship. In one case, Carman got injured trying to save Daiyong. Dai Yong, as nice as he always is, did everything to help her recover. Everyone with some TV-watching experience can imagine what this may have caused to Daiyong's and Jessie's relationship. They break up and Carmen took the opportunity to get near Daiyong, but they never formally get together.
Jesse and Daiyong married , but Jesse fainted and unconsious on her wedding day. The causes Jesse to lost her memory when wake up. Daiyong tried to explain to Jesse that she is her wife. But, Jesse cant remember that and she decided to leaves to China.
Cheung Yee and Gigi relationship after married not much to be talk for, except after Gigi died in accident. Cheung Yee become very sad, and he cannot focus on his work. Finally, after support from friends and family , he get up once again to continue his life. After that, he meet Chi Ching (Sammie Cheng) at few last episodes. They become good friends and Cheung Yee sadness also slowly dissapeared.
Ending
After the tragedy happened to Jesse, she cant remember a thing of the past. In a sad ending, Jesse decided to go to China and leaves Daiyong because she cant remember her memory with Daiyong. She need some time to recover her memory. At the airport, Daiyong tried once last time but Jesse still cannot remember. Daiyong cried and said to Jesse , if she anytime remember Daiyong, please comeback..
Verdict
- This drama is a lot better than the first installment. Maybe because the budget is higher after a huge hit of the first series
- The additon of Amy Kwok character is one of the most interesting. Her subplot story is written beautifully and one of the cause for me to keep watching.
- The best case for me is the case involving Carmen's truth mental illness and her past. Personally, i think this case should be the scond last case of this series.
- After an entertaining case of Carmen , the plot seems to be anticlimax on last 10 episodes. The cases involved the death of Gigi is not interesting enough.
- Sammie Cheng character on last few episodes is boring and not needed. Mostly i skip her part with Cheung Yee
- The last case involving Jesse lost of memory is quite good. The ending is sad but memorable
- personally i will rate 8.5/10
